Let’s kick off this month’s roundup with a heads up for three must-see shows at the Yvonne Arnaud.

Comedy legend John Shuttleworth brings his faithful Yamaha organ to Guildford on February 20th, and tickets are selling fast. ‘Raising the Oof’ celebrates John’s 40 years in showbiz, and described as one of the best reasons to love Britain, with The Guardian saying…‘his stand up is second to none, his timing is impeccable, and you can practically warm your hands on his good nature’.

The Shark is Broken tells the true story of the drama going on behind the scenes at the filming of Jaws. Starring Ian Shaw, co-writer of the show, and son of the legendary Robert Shaw, one of the biggest, and most tempestuous stars in Hollywood, this production has received rave reviews on its UK tour, and you will have to be quick, as tickets will sell-out.

When it comes to great stage acting, there are few performers to match Martin Shaw, and when it comes to historical drama’s you will have to go a long way to match A Man For All Seasons.

Written by Robert Bolt, the play tells the story of Sir Thomas More and his relationship with his friend King Henry VIII. It is a tale of principle, loyalty, defiance, and conscience that the Daily Telegraph describes as ‘Gripping’ and ‘Martin Shaw is superb, playing More with both gravitas and a lightness of touch’.

A Man for all Seasons runs from February 24th to March 1st, and The Shark is Broken is on from March 24th to the 29th of March.

Our close neighbours at G Live are not missing out on the big name acts either, as they continue to attract the finest national and international talents to Guildford.

You know what to expect from The Pub Landlord, but just in case, here’s the low down…‘Country, the UK, lost its way, seeks life partner/mentor/inspiration. Good sense of humour essential. No timewasters, tedious show-offs or offend-o-trons need apply. HR free zone.’

Caroline Hirons, the UKs number one skincare expert is taking to the stage as part of her first ever tour on February 19th. ‘Glad We Had This Chat Unfiltered’ will see Carline interview a different mystery guest at each show, and there will be a Q&A session, and exclusive on-stage skincare demo, it will be a great evening of unfiltered frank and funny chat.

On the 26th, the Legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club is celebrated with live music from ‘Ronnie’s’ regulars, and the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars. This is a must see for all music fans, not just jazz buffs. The show Featuring classic music from the jazz greats who have performed at Ronnie Scott’s, projected images and footage, and tales of old Soho, miscreant musicians and police raids, ‘The Ronnie Scott’s Songbook’ is a glimpse into this unique world and its incredible history.
