Over the last week or so, our wonderful Sales Co-ordinator Lily has been out and about visiting local businesses to talk about Christmas Parties.
To say that the response has been positive would be an understatement.
Of course it helps that Lily is the right person for the job, happy, smiley, engaging and knowledgeable. Indeed so ‘right for the job’ that we received a lovely email from a Guildford shop manager saying that Lily was ‘very professional and I would jump at offering her a position with my company!’
We responded with our thanks for the kind words and a very polite ‘hands off’.
So, armed with our Christmas brochure and some chocolate bars, Lily headed off, visiting over 100 local shops and businesses to tell them all about our wonderful value events. Inevitably, some people confirmed that they had already booked their Christmas party and sadly a few said that they might not be having a party this Christmas.
Very pleasingly, lots told us that they would pop in to take a closer look at our event spaces (comfortably the largest and most flexible in Guildford…just saying.)
Incidentally, this is an open invitation, and if you are looking to host a party this Christmas, please do call and we will be delighted to give you the ‘Cooks Tour’. You can download our brochures here, where you will also find all the contact details.
One very enthusiastic business owner told Lily that they were looking to host their Christmas Party in January, not a problem for Mandolay, and details were promptly exchanged. Another asked how many people could ‘cram in’. The answer was parties between 2 and 300, all seated comfortably in one of our eight event spaces, with not even a suggestion of ‘cramming in!’
This year, our seasonal Afternoon Teas are proving incredibly popular, and sure enough, Lily was delighted to answer any and all questions about free-flowing Prosecco, home-made pastries and even our jam (also home-made of course), got a mention.
Not every call was a complete success, one business owner said that they had been to Mandolay seven years ago, but wouldn’t return because ‘the peas were hard’. Lily apologised (even though she was still at school when the peas were served), told the gentleman about our AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence, and invited him to visit for a coffee and a ‘look-around’.
But all in all, it was a wonderful few days for Lily, and we have already started to receive calls from businesses that she met.
Here’s to more sales visits from our ‘absolute superstar’.
