Every so often, a piece of news arrives that reminds us why we do what you do. This week, Mandolay received exactly that kind of wow moment when we were officially notified that our hotel has been ranked among the top 10% of hotels worldwide by TripAdvisor.

This is an achievement that still feels wonderfully surreal to say out loud (well, type out loud anyway).

Delighted doesn’t quite cover it. We are genuinely over the moon. As an independently owned, medium sized hotel and events venue, Mandolay doesn’t operate with the vast marketing budgets or national brand recognition enjoyed by many of the excellent chain hotels in and around Guildford. We’ve always known that we compete in a different way, not through scale, but through heart.

And that heart comes from our team.

What Mandolay has is something far more valuable than any advertising campaign, a group of people who bring passion, care, and pride to their work every single day. They are the ones greeting guests with genuine warmth, ensuring every event runs smoothly, and paying attention to the details that turn a stay into a memorable experience. Their commitment is the reason guests choose us, return to us, and crucially, take the time to share their experiences online.

This recognition from TripAdvisor is not just a badge, a statistic or rather splendid certificate. It is a tribute to the incredible individuals who make Mandolay what it is.
