A Guide to a comfortable and stress-free stay in an unfamiliar town
Guildford is home to a number of excellent hospitals and medical research facilities, and this brief guide is intended to act as an introduction to visiting town either as a patient, or as somebody accompanying a patient.
Mount Alvernia Hospital is a five-minute walk, or two-minute taxi ride from Mandolay. We are privileged to welcome many people that are here to take advantage of their wonderful care facilities and first class treatments.
Guildford also enjoys a reputation for the diagnosis and treatment of urological cancers, with the world class Stokes Centre for Urology providing ground-breaking treatments of all kinds, including the use of robots to carry out prostatectomy treatments and similar procedures.
If you are visiting Guildford for treatment, or accompanying a patient we want your stay at Mandolay to be as comfortable, and stress free as possible. Please let us know of any specific requirements that you may have, including any dietary preferences, or if you would like assistance with luggage, arranging transport, or alarm calls.
We can also arrange early check-in or delayed check-out to fit in with your appointment.
Guildford is a very pedestrian friendly town, with much to see or do within a few minutes-walk from the hotel. The High Street offers a range of places to eat, drink, relax and people watch, while Stoke Park is a quiet haven of manicured gardens and easy pathways to explore at your own pace.
We are always delighted to offer suggestions for places to visit further afield, with RHS Wisley, Winkworth Arboretum, and Watt’s Gallery within easy reach of town.
Hospital visits can be stressful, but being in expert medical hands should be a great comfort to you, and your loved ones. Mandolay can play a small, but significant part in helping you to relax during your stay, and we would encourage any guests staying with us while attending hospital to lean on our local knowledge.
We are of course extremely discrete, all arrangements for specific assistance will be handled quietly and without fuss, so please just ask if there is anything that we can do to help.
