The stories of Guildford and its people are brought magically, and entertainingly to life by our wonderful Town Guides. From Lewis Carroll and Alan Turing, to Kings, Queens, ghosts and pubs, there are guided walks throughout the summer months, and they are all FREE!

You can explore Guildford through the ages with walks featuring tales from Medieval, Georgian and Victorian times, investigate ‘Hidden Guildford’ and learn more about the special relationship that Elizabeth 1 had with the town.

Of course, we are delighted that the Alan Turing Walk features a stop off at Mandolay, formerly home to the Turing family, an absolute ‘must do’ for our guests.

Then there’s ‘Kings Worthies and Scoundrels’, tales of dark deeds and political shenanigans aplenty, while ‘Prayers, Plots and Poisons’ delves into even murkier waters. On a slightly lighter side there’s ‘Pubs and Inns’ although this too has elements of history where Guildford was touched by tragedy.

Whichever walk you choose to join, and we have done them all so we know how brilliant they are, you will be sure to learn more about our lovely town and have a jolly good time while you’re doing it.

Booking is strongly recommended, the walks are extremely popular, you can claim your spot and get more details of the walks on the website www.guildfordwalks.org.uk

We need to give a special mention to the Town Guides for their selfless work in organising and leading the walks, they really hold an absolute treasure trove of information about the town and the wider area.

Walks, which are suitable for all ages and abilities start at 11.00am unless specified, so do yourself a favour, book a tour and be royally entertained…for free!
