RHS Garden Wisley
As well as being a centre of education for gardeners of all ages, Wisley has features to delight and amaze all year round including The Glasshouse, the internationally famous Test Beds and of course, an astonishing selection of some of the most beautiful flowers and plants.
A day can drift by in a haze of colours, smells and interactive fun at Wisley and we are truly blessed to have such a place on our doorstep.
Guildford Castle and Cathedral
Designed by Sir Edwin Maufe, work began on Guildford Cathedral in 1936 but was delayed until a public effort in the 1950’s provided sufficient funds for completion. Today the impressive modern structure dominates the town from its position high on Stag Hill and as well as being the seat of worship and learning, is also famously featured in the 1970’s classic film, The Omen.
Surrey Hills AONB
Stretching over more than 400 square kilometres, the AONB features some of the most glorious English countryside and is home to among other things the most famous feature in British road cycling, Box Hill.
The area also contains numerous quintessentially English towns and villages including Shere, location for many Hollywood movies and TV series. Just a five minute drive from The Mandolay is Newlands Corner home to the famous Silent Pool Gin and a view famously described by none other than Eric Clapton as his favourite in the whole world.
The Seaside
The ferry ports of Portsmouth and Southampton are just as accessible, and onwards to the Isle of Wight and continental Europe.
